BOOK 1

Blurb: It's hard enough being an undergraduate student, an intern at Downtown Manhattan's police station, and a bouncer at a local bar. Add her now ex-boyfriend who recently dumped her for the school's resident bimbo—oh, and she's a werewolf.
Mackenzie Grey meets her match when she is kidnapped by the Brooklyn Pack and tossed between Sebastian and Jonah—the Alpha and the Beta. Being a lone-wolf in the city is dangerous, and now that the Pack has found her, so can every supernatural being in the Tri-State area. And not even her sarcastic, smart mouth can get her out of this.
When a string of kidnappings involves Mackenzie in supernatural politics, she questions her new acquaintances and finds unlikely allies. Can she escape Pack law and keep her freedom—or will she be condemned to an unwanted path?

*3.5 STARS*

This was a solid start to the series. It ended a little abruptly but I will definitely be picking up the next book. I wouldn't say that the ending was a cliffhanger but I didn't expect it to end when it did. I was reading along and then BOOM. End of book 1.

The world building was good but I wanted to learn more about the wolves' politics. I was hoping that Mackenzie would lay the smack down on V. I couldn't stand that insert-cuss-word-here-that-also-means-female-dog.

My favorite part of the whole book was the humor. Mackenzie was freaking hilarious. She didn't take crap from anyone and had a really hard time controlling her mouth.

"I swear, the bad guys always get you just as you're about to make your getaway," I said as I threw my hands up in the air.

"Not now, Mackenzie," he said. Challenge accepted. I spent the next fifteen minute ride to the Kittleman House where he was staying, repeating, "How about now?" I could see the vein in his neck pop every time my voice rang.

I would continue the series just for Mackenzie's quips alone.

I do want to touch on the fact that there is a somewhat love triangle going on. Well, not love, per say....more like a lust triangle. I don't envy her for the decision she is going to have to make, but I do envy her for the journey she will have to embark on to make said decision. Phew.

I want to touch on why my rating isn't higher. I know I said that I hinted that I enjoyed the "lust triangle" but on the flip side, it got annoying. Especially when I've already chosen my guy and she kept going back and forth. Pick a side, girl! And the ending made me mad. I was frustrated with the direction the book went, but at the same time I will be continuing with the series because
1) Mackenzie needs to make her decision (girl better decide!)
2) more Mackenzie hilarity
3) I hope that Mackenzie can change wolves' politics, it's quite archaic
4) Mackenzie can be a straight up bad ass and I want to see more of that.

With my mouth to his ear, I said, "I have allegiance to no one." And ripped out his heart.
