New Release & Review: The Last Valkyrie by Karina Espinosa

Title: The Last Valkyrie
Author: Karina Espinosa
Genre: Adult Urban Fantasy
Cover Designer: Orina Kafe
Publication Date: August 3rd, 2018
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Blurb: Raven Romero is a washed up Valkyrie who is unable to return to Valhalla, spending her days in a haze of sex, drugs, and alcohol.

When she is wrongfully accused of murder, Raven has two options: run or clear her name. With a laundry list of enemies, she has no idea who could be framing her. One thing is for sure: they know what she is and they'll stop at nothing until she’s behind bars or dead.

With no choice but to delve into the supernatural underground she tried so hard to avoid, Raven seeks aid and learns what it means to be human.

The world believes her kind no longer exists, but Raven Romero is The Last Valkyrie.

I voluntarily received a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

4 STARS

The Last Valkyrie was a fun read. I loved Raven's character. She was full of snark and sarcastic, dry humor. She prefers to be a loner with some one night stands thrown in here and there. She is completely confident in herself and doesn't need anybody to help her out....

Until she gets dragged into a murder and ends up being the prime suspect.

Now she has to rely on a prim & proper librarian who has a type A personality and a secret of her own to help her clear her name. Charlie is completely innocent and Raven has conflicting feelings about involving her in all of her illegal drama.

There was an ominous rune carved into the torso of the victim's body and it's got Raven on high alert. It appears that the killer is trying to send her a message. She breaks out of police custody but then has to return to take back her big trunk full of valkyrie stuff. Her interactions with Detective Callahan cracked me up.

"What is it with you and windows?" he yelled.
I grinned. "Ten-second head start?"
He nodded, and I was gone.

The story was great; fast paced and never gave you a break. I felt like I was living all of these twists and turns right along with Raven & Charlie. I really enjoyed all of the Norse mythology and supernatural elements. The flashbacks of when Raven was a valkyrie were my favorite. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for book 2. I can't wait to see what happens next.
