Fighting what we've become.
An ancient dimension of dark echoes from the past.

Lisa and her family barely manage to escape an invasion from the Rebel army in their home of Malta. Shortly after this episode, she discovers Exo, the ancient dimension she cannot understand until her late 20s. Exo is made of memories of the past; it brings forth all the strong echoes we leave behind. Lisa desperately wants to resolve the conflicts of this inner world peacefully, but quickly learns she must fight the shadows in people's hearts, materialized through battle re-enactments, warfare and emotional turmoil.

Enjoy an Excerpt:

“Are we in danger? I heard Daddy talking to Uncle Bernie about some bad people coming to our island. There’s only water protecting us from them, see?”

“Ah, their long debates over the phone… It’s just chatting; just people talking. No worries here, my dear.”

Her mother paused and reflected on whether to be more honest with her child, as some school advisors were recommending, or whether to continue shielding her from the world’s problems.

“I don’t want them to come to my school. My friends might stay at home because they’re scared.”

“They won’t,” the mother replied with another smile as she caressed the little girl’s brown hair. “They won’t. Let’s get inside, sweetheart; it’s getting chilly.”

They resided in a fortunately situated neighborhood. Though just two miles from the shore, it was elevated enough to have an unobstructed sea view over the gentle slope of their rocky hill. Before entering the house, Lisa spotted some movement above her head.

“Hey, it’s Reblas!” She waved at their neighbor, who was tranquilly gazing through his telescope, poking out of his dark attic window. “Any shooting princesses today?”

“Why don’t you come over and take a look? It’s a cheesy moon out tonight,” beamed the man. He was recently retired and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life on the island.

“It’s late. Maybe tomorrow,” Lisa’s mother called back.

“’Night, Reblas.”

“Sure thing, Strawberry. It’ll be there tomorrow as well—always waiting for us to look up and admire it!”

The electric shutter on the back door slowly closed after they had passed through. Reblas adjusted his telescope’s lens and angle, observing the horizon, while in the background, concerned voices on the radio discussed the recent riots in Europe and the increasing numbers of boats crossing the Mediterranean Sea from both continents.

It was hard to tell how tall he was because he was sitting, but his enormous body hinted at him being one humongous character. The recessed lighting reflected off his bald head as it emphasized the sloping points of his ears. His lower face had raven-black facial hair in an old-fashioned Fu Manchu. His pencil-thin mustache sat atop a small black beard, flowing to his waist. His tunic and pants were made of a red color so deep and rich it bordered on being black.

The deep, depthless onyx of his eyes trapped her. Every Zerin she’d ever met had dual-color eyes with iridescent pupils framed in green hues. Not this man. His eyes had no contrasting color and were as cold and dead as a snake. Her involuntary shivers increased.

“What do you bring me?” the slow boom of the giant asked in a steady inflection. His icy stare never left Aimee as he continued to stroke the sides of his satiny mustache.

“Sire, I have brought you a wondrous gift.” Was that simpering, submissive voice coming from Aja? A glance confirmed it. The syrupy tone went well with the body bending routine of a subservient lackey. Well, wasn’t she lucky to live long enough to see the haughty Aja scraping and bowing like a good little lapdog.

The giant raised a scornful eyebrow. “I fail to see how that is so.” One thick finger beat a rhythmic tattoo on the armrest. Aimee wasn’t an alien expert, but to her, he gave a universal signal of someone fast losing his patience.

Tour & Giveaway: Ruins on Stone Hill by F. P. Spirit

Ruins on Stone Hill (Heroes of Ravenford #1)
by F.P. Spirit
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Date: December 2016

Magic  is  easy.

That’s what Glolindir thought, until he came across his first real monster.

Luckily, he survived, thanks to his new “friends.”Lloyd, the reckless young warrior with blades of fire. Seth, the sarcastic halfling who might bean assassin. Aksel, the genius little gnome whose very touch can heal. Little did they know that things were about togo from bad to worse. After one hundred and fifty years of relative peace, dark forces stir around the little town ofRavenford—monsters, black magic, creatures of the night.

The only thing standing between Ravenford and certain destruction is this band of young misfits.

Glolindir  spotted  the  monstrous  orc  at  the  same  time  as  Seth.  The  wizard  waited  till  it  charged,  then  lifted  his  arm  and  pointed  a  finger  at  it.  As  he  did  so,  mana,  the  energy  that  flows  in  and  around  all  things,  gathered  within  him.  He  drew  the  energy  inward  with  concentrated  will  and  focused  it  with  a  gesture.  All  that  was  needed  now  was  a  verbal  command  to  trigger  it.

The  orc  had  closed  half  the  gap  to  the  lead  wagon  when  Glo  spoke  the  words  that  released  the  spell,  “Nullam  Telum.”  A  projectile  of  arcane  energy  leapt  from  his  finger  and  spiraled  out  toward  the  charging  creature.  The  purple  missile  met  the  beast  in  midstride  and  connected  with  an  audible  thud.

The  monster  appeared  neither  shaken,  nor  hurt.  Instead  it  merely  glanced  down  at  its  chest,  reached  up  with  its  free  hand,  and  touched  the  smoldering  spot.

Glo’s  eyes  went  wide.  This  huge  orc  was  far  tougher  than  he  imagined—he  had  severely  miscalculated.  He  watched  in  horror  as  the  creature  dropped  its  hand  and  turned  its  feral  gaze  toward  him.  An  evil  grin  spread  across  the  monster’s  maw,  then  it  charged.

Glo  froze  in  place,  unable  to  move  a  muscle.  He  had  been  so  sure  of  himself.  He  had  studied  his  spells  and  creatures  and  practiced  his  art  tirelessly.  Yet  none  of  that  had  prepared  him  for  this.  Here  was  a  real  live  monster  bearing  down  on  him,  fully  intent  on  ripping  him  limb  from  limb.  It  swiftly  closed  the  gap  between  them  and  would  be  on  him  in  seconds.

My  father  was  right.  He  was  woefully  unprepared  to  cope  with  this.  At  that  moment,  he  wished  that  he  had  listened  to  his  father’s  advice  and  stayed  in  the  safety  of  their  elven  home.

Aksel  climbed  out  of  the  wagon  just  in  time  to  see  the  creature  rushing  toward  them.  “Well,  that  doesn’t  look  good.”

“Agreed,”  Glo  said  through  barely  moving  lips.
